Ground Breaking Event for Honiara Cable Landing Station Site Feb 6th 2019

A ground Breaking ceremony was held at the site of the Honiara Cable Landing Station on Lengakiki Ridge on February 6th 2019.  Distinguished guests and the press witnessed this important celebration of the commitment of both the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia and the Solomon Island Government to this nation building development.  Prime Minister, Rick Hou was joined by Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Marise Payne in marking the occasion with speeches, followed by a blessing of the site by His Grace, the Most Reverend George Takeli, the Archbishop of the Church of Melanesia.  They then proceeded onto the site for the ceremonial turning of the earth on the site of the duct route into the landing station.
